Hello there!
Thank you for visiting my page. My name is Andrés. I am a Mexican guy living in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. You can generally find me doing research work, disassembling yet another fully-functional electronic device to "enhance" it, hunting for authentic ingredients for cooking my favorite Mexican dishes, playing basketball, scuba diving, running (less frequently than I would like), or going on long photo walks or trips.
I am currently a posdoctoral researcher at the Integrated Actuators Laboratory (LAI) at EPFL. Previously, I did my Ph.D. degree at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, at the Mechanical Systems Design Laboratory.
My research interest is in advanced actuator design, mainly in the topics of SMA and soft actuators. I am interested in electronic-less robots and control, but I also like mechanism design, manufacturing engineering, industrial automation, and fluid and soft robotics.
I am absolutely delighted to talk about my research, my bonsai and vintage camera collections, Mexican food recipes, or any interesting topic, really.
